Property Owners Beach House

WDCA owns the 3.5 acre site and 5000 square foot building known as the Property Owners Beach House or POBH. This site overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is available to all property owners and their guests for beach parking and access, outdoor relaxation and small social gatherings. The Beach House was designed to be informal and residential in nature.
In the Spring of 2003, the Beach House was refurbished and the enclosed room on the main floor was expanded and redecorated. This room has beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, a fully equipped kitchen, ice maker, corian counters, hardwood floors and attractive furnishings. The original seascape painting over the serving counter was donated by Joe Nichols, artist and Isle of Palms resident.
In late 2003, the Livability Task Force completed its study and submitted its report to the Board of Directors. The report contained specific recommendations about the Beach House and its amenities. Based on this report and property owner input, the Board voted to replace the walkway to the beach, add an ocean viewing deck off the walkway, add a picnic shelter and expand the existing decking at the house.
The new walkway and ocean view deck were completed in June 2005. The picnic shelter and expanded decking were completed in early 2006.
