Visiting Wild Dunes

I am vacationing at Wild Dunes. What are the rules inside Wild Dunes as a renter? +

I am vacationing at Wild Dunes. How do I receive my rental guest pass? +

Please contact the management company where you made your rental reservation to obtain your guest pass for your length of stay. The management company will provide instructions on how to obtain their pass, which must be displayed on your vehicle dashboard. Note: The Main Gate is not authorized to issue day passes to guests of rental guests

I will be visiting Wild Dunes on vacation. Are rental or personal golf carts allowed? +

Only Wild Dunes Owners or Club Members are permitted to have properly credentialed golf carts or Low Speed Vehicles (LSV) on property. Renters are not allowed to trailer their own golf cart. Golf cart rentals in the Community are not permitted. If you are interested in renting a Low-Speed Vehicle there are authorized companies that are permitted to rent LSVs in Wild Dunes.

Can I bring my boat, jet ski, RV camper, motorcycle or electric recreational vehicles to Wild Dunes (i.e., electric bikes, motorized scooters, electric skateboards, etc.)? +

No boats, boat trailers, jet skis, recreational vehicles, campers or commercial vehicles are to be brought into Wild Dunes. The use of motorcycles, mopeds and, other similar two or three-wheeled vehicles are prohibited on all Wild Dunes Community Association common properties in Wild Dunes.

Can I use the golf cart paths and fairways for leisure or exercise? +

No! The golf courses are privately owned. Walking, biking, or driving your golf cart is not permitted.

We are looking to rent a vacation home in Wild Dunes that is pet friendly? +

Short-term rentals are prohibited from having pets in the Community.

Can I fish in the lagoons? +

Yes, but please use caution as alligators are present. Please practice catch and release fishing.

I noticed alligators in and around the lagoons at Wild Dunes; is this common? +

Beware! Alligators are present in the community. Swimming and wading in the lagoons are strictly prohibited. Feeding or harassing alligators is against the law. Keep pets and small children away from the lagoons.

I am interested in real estate inside of Wild Dunes. Can I get a day pass to visit? +

Wild Dunes is a gated community and Resort. Day passes are not issued for general real estate viewing. Please contact a local real estate agent for information.

How can I find out about events happening in Wild Dunes Resort? +

I am renting a home that allows use of their golf cart and/or Low Speed Vehicle. Where can I find the rules of the road? +

Golf Carts: In accordance with South Carolina Code of Law Section 56-3-115, golf cart owners who have a valid driver’s license, a permit from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, a Wild Dunes decal and proof of insurance may operate the golf cart on a secondary highway or street within four miles of his or her residence or place of business during daylight hours only. Additionally, golf carts may cross a primary highway or street (such as Palm Boulevard from 41st Avenue to Breach Inlet), but cannot travel along primary highways or streets. Golf carts may not be parked on beach access paths unless signs exist indicating that golf cart parking is permissible. A golf cart cannot be legally operated on the Isle of Palms after dark.

Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs): In accordance with South Carolina Code of Law Section 56-2-100, a LSV is a four-wheeled vehicle whose speed attainable in one mile is more than twenty miles per hour (20 mph) and not more than twenty-five miles per hour (25 mph).

A LSV may be operated on a highway or street for which the posted speed limit is thirty–five (35) miles an hour or less. LSVs cannot be operated on the IOP Connector as it has a speed limit of forty-five (45) miles per hour. A LSV may cross a highway at an intersection where the highway has a posted speed limit of more than thirty–five (35) miles an hour. A LSV must meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 500 (Part 49 Section 571.500 of the Code of Federal Regulations) at all times when operated on any highway. A LSV vehicle may be operated after dark.

Golf Carts and LSVs can only be operated by a person with a valid driver’s license, a permit from the Department of Motor Vehicles, a Wild Dunes decal and proof of insurance.

Wild Dunes Owner Information

How do I gain access into Wild Dunes as a property owner? +

Owners are issued annual decals to enter the Main or Palm Gate. Barcodes are optional for property owners to purchase in conjunction with an owner decal. Owners can also enter an owner’s paper pass to display on their dashboard if they are arriving in a rental car. Please call the WDCA office for decal information at 843-886-8847.

I am purchasing a new vehicle; how do I obtain a new decal and barcode? +

Please remove the decal and barcode and return them to the WDCA office for an exchange. If we do not have the pieces and parts of the decal and barcode you will be charged a fee for both. Please call the WDCA office for more information at 843-886-8847.

I am a resident of Wild Dunes; do I have access to the Resort-owned fitness center or pools? +

Only Wild Dunes Club Members have access to these amenities. Please contact the Wild Dunes Resort, 843-886-6000, for more information.

How do I find out more information about the Wild Dunes Club (golf, tennis, pools, club functions)? +

Wild Dunes Community Association is not associated with the Club or any of its amenities. The Club is privately owned and operated by Wild Dunes Resort. All questions can be answered by contacting Heidi Kaloupek, Club Membership Director of Wild Dunes Resort at heidi.kaloupek@destinationhotels.com.

What hours can my dog be off leash on the beach? +

What day is garbage collection in Wild Dunes? +

Once a week (Tuesday) from September 5, 2023 – May 28, 2024

Twice per week (Tuesdays and Fridays) from June 4, 2024 – August 27, 2024

What day is recycling in Wild Dunes? +

Recycling is now every other Thursday.

Please remember if there is a holiday on our week, our day will move to Friday of that week.

However, during the summer influx, it will change to once a week (Thursdays) from June 4, 2024 – August 27, 2024.

How many properties are located in Wild Dunes? +

There are 2135 properties in Wild Dunes (single family, townhomes, condos, lots).

What is the Wild Dunes Annual Assessment for 2024? +

The 2024 Annual Assessment is $900. If the home is used for short-term rentals (30 days or less) there is an additional $100 rental access fee. The WDCA Annual Assessment covers maintenance of the roadways, lagoons, landscaping in the common areas, security gates and personnel, insurance, Property Owners Beach House and the WDCA administration office.

Buyers pay a 1% Real Estate Transfer Fee (RETF) when purchasing a property in Wild Dunes. What does the fee fund? +

Half of the RETF is allocated to the Beach Maintenance Fund, and the other half is placed accordingly depending on the budget year into Capital Improvements, Roads & Drainage, and/or Disaster Recovery. Please see “financials” located on the owner’s dashboard.

Where can I find the Governing Documents for Wild Dunes Community Association? +

A pdf file can be found on our website under Resources – “Governing Documents”.

I am looking to do minor work (exterior painting, new roof, rot repair) or major renovations (add a fence, pool or an addition) to my house; is a permit required? +

All residential properties must apply for a Wild Dunes permit and follow the Architectural Review Standards. A copy can be found on our website under “Architectural Review”.

 

 

Are short-term rentals allowed in Wild Dunes? Can I list the rental as pet-friendly? +

Short-term rentals (30 days or less) are allowed in Wild Dunes. Please visit www.iop.net regarding your rental business license, as well as all rules and regulations. A $100 annual rental access fee will be applied to your Wild Dunes Community Assessment invoice. Short-term rentals are prohibited from having pets.

Are motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles, or RV campers allowed on property? +

The use of motorcycles, mopeds and, other similar two or three-wheeled vehicles are prohibited on all Wild Dunes Community Association common properties in Wild Dunes. No boats, boat trailers, jet skis, recreational vehicles, campers or commercial vehicles are to be stored within Wild Dunes. Property owners or long-term renters are permitted to have boats, boat trailers and jet skis, provided they are stored in a screened area approved by the Community Association. Other such vehicles may be brought temporarily into Wild Dunes to load, unload, clean or maintain, provided they are removed by sunset.

Are rental or guest(s) golf carts allowed? +

Only Wild Dunes Owners or Club Members are permitted to have properly credentialed golf carts or Low Speed Vehicles (LSV) on property. Guests are not permitted to trailer their own golf cart. Golf cart rentals in the Community are not permitted. If you are interested in renting a Low-Speed Vehicle there are authorized companies that are permitted to rent LSVs in Wild Dunes.
